In-District Transfer Process for the 2022 - 2023 School Year

While it is always recommended to enroll your student in your resident area (boundary) school, we do understand that at times circumstances exist that create the need to enroll in a school outside of your boundary area school. 

This process is followed for parents who choose to enroll their child(ren) in one of the district’s option programs (Marysville Cooperative Education Program, 10th Street Middle School Choice Program, Marysville Online, School Home Partnership Program) or in a school other than their boundary area school. An in-district transfer form is only needed if you are requesting a school or program outside of your boundary area school but within the Marysville School District.

  • The Annual In-District Transfer process for the 2022-2023 School Year was March 1, 2022, through March 31, 2022, for grades 1 - 11. The period for incoming Kindergarten students closed on April 30. Approval/denial notifications for applications received during the window were sent to parents/guardians on May 2. Parents and guardians of incoming kindergarten students will be notified on May 16.

  • Applying after the March 31 deadline: There is now a limited number of schools currently accepting transfer requests for the 2022 - 2023 school year. Those schools include Legacy High School, Heritage High School, School Home Partnership Program, and Marysville Online.

Transfer Request Form: Requests should be submitted online. Submitting an online transfer is not a guarantee of placement. Notification will be made once the request has been reviewed. If you reside outside of the Marysville School District boundary area, you will need to file an online ‘Choice Transfer Request’ at  Once on the form site, follow the directions outlined in the process. The Choice Transfer submission window for students requesting to attend the Marysville School District is March 1 - March 31. A new form is required each year. See more information below.

Families who reside in the Marysville School District boundary area who choose to enroll their child(ren) in one of the district’s option programs, or in a school other than their boundary area school only need to complete one In-District Transfer Request. Once an In-District transfer has been approved, parents do not need to re-apply for transfer to that school in subsequent years. Note: For the upcoming 2022 - 2023 school year, a new form will be required for any transfer requests for students entering grades 6 - 9 if requesting a school outside of their new boundary school.

If approved for an In-District Transfer Request or Choice Transfer Request, parents must provide transportation for their students to and from school.

Transfer requests received by the March 31, 11:59 pm deadline for grades 1 - 12 will be reviewed by May 2, 2022. Requests for Kindergarten received by the April 30, 11:59 pm deadline will be reviewed by May 16, 2022.

Choice Transfers/Out-of-District Requests (Request to Change School Districts) Additional Information

A Choice Transfer request is made when a student wants to attend a school in a school district outside of the school district where the student lives. This form must be completed each school year. Click HERE to read the 2022 - 2023 notification letter.
