Marysville High Schools Drama Club proudly presents “Chicago: Teen Edition”
coming to the Marysville-Pilchuck Auditorium April 24 th , 25 th , 26 th and May 1 st , 2 nd
and 3 rd at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students with ASB,
senior citizens, military and all others. Tickets can be purchased at the door with
cash or check only.
“Chicago: Teen Edition” centers on Roxie Hart played by Bellatrix Gooding. She’s
a chorus girl who dreams of being a vaudeville star. She has a sweet but dim-witted
husband named Amos (Malachi Bassett) who she tries to convince to take the
blame for killing the man she’s seeing on the side. Roxie is thrown into the Cook
County Jail, which seems like an end to her dreams of stardom, but her sentence
ends up being her ticket to fame.
Her lawyer, the smooth-talking Billy Flynn (Josiah Mercado) helps her to concoct
a defense that earns the press’s sympathy and gets her face on the cover of every
newspaper in Chicago. While in jail, Roxie meets Velma Kelly (Lilly Lovato), an
established vaudeville star who murdered her husband and sister. The women
begin as rivals, as Roxie steals her lawyer and spotlight, but they come around to
an unlikely alliance.
This musical continues a 15-year partnership with MP and MG students and
features a cast and crew made up of students from both schools. The cast also
includes Anna Blanchard, Ricel Calilung, Asani Quist, Cammy Adams, Madison
Boyd, Mia Judd, Emma Able, Jack Skenandore, Victor Gooding, Elizabeth Richey,
Manrit Dhaliwal, Zachary Bunney, Jude Robertson, Void MacWatters, Zander
Gruber, Lilija Indrebo, Madeline Fisher, Anh Dinh, Amarah Talluto, Izabel Pineda,
and Simi Wheeler. Behind the scenes features a dozen more students plus parents
from the Marysville High Schools Booster Club. The show is directed by MP
teacher Roy Klementsen with assistance from student Madison Boyd and
Cedarcrest Drama teacher Darren Oke. Vocal direction is by David Spring.
Choreography is by student Sadie Ross and parent Trisha Ross with assistance
from student Grace McShane.
The show runs one hour and forty-five minutes including a 15-minute intermission.
Concessions are on sale in the Tomahawk Activity Center along with flowers from
What’s Blooming Now Floral and More.
