Q: Has the district consulted with the Snohomish Health District related to whether or not it is safe for students to return to campus?

A: The district is in regular contact with the Snohomish Health District. All decision-making by the district is in alignment with Health Department guidance.

Q: Which grades are being proposed to bring back to campus in a hybrid model at this time?

A: Students in PreK - 1st Grade; AM/PM Model for K-1 and a one or two days a week model for the Early Learning Center. 

Q: What is the proposed date for the first day for PreK-1st Grades to start in a hybrid model?

A: The date will be determined by the Board of Directors.

Q. What options will be available for my child if I do not feel safe returning him/her to school?

A: Students will be able to remain in the current Continuous Learning 2.0 remote learning model, following the same daily/weekly schedule that they currently have. They will be able to stay in this model for the rest of the year or enroll in Marysville Online for the second semester, starting on February 2, 2021.

Q: If my child chooses to stay online, will they have the same teacher as they do now?

A: Probably not. However, we are doing everything possible to ensure that they have a teacher from the same grade-level at their neighborhood school as their neighborhood school classmates.

Q: When will I know who is my child’s teacher (if they are assigned someone different)?

A: Our goal is to have students and teachers assigned possibly some time in December.

Q: What will the AM/PM schedule look like for kindergarten and first grade?

A: Students will attend school four days a week, Monday through Thursday, in either a morning or afternoon session. On Friday’s all K -1 students will be in remote learning.

Remote learning day for all students.

*AM: Students will receive breakfast when they arrive at school and will eat in their classroom. Lunch will be sent home with each child to eat when they get home if they ride the bus. No food is to be consumed on the bus and masks are required during the bus ride. For recess after dismissal, it is recommended that caregivers plan a physical activity during this time.

**PM: Students will receive lunch when they arrive at school and will eat in their classroom. A breakfast will be sent home with each child to eat the next morning. No food is to be consumed on the bus and masks are required during the bus ride. For recess prior to school, it is recommended that caregivers plan a physical activity during this time.

Q: Are meals being provided for students for free?

A: Yes, meals will be continued to be provided to students for free through our extended summer food service program.

Q: How will the classes be divided?

A: Teachers will balance classrooms based on their knowledge of students. Siblings will also be kept in the same cohort (AM or PM). Additionally, schools will work with families to coordinate daycare schedules.

Q: Will transportation be provided?

A: Yes, for students in grades K -1. Once we have all students assigned to their classes, then we will be able to develop bus routes. Our goal is to have bus routes communicated to families sometime during the week of December 14-18. These routes will include transportation to our community partner daycares.

Q: Will my child have to wear a mask at school and on the bus?

A: Yes. If for medical reasons, your child requires accommodations, then the school and district will work with families to implement appropriate accommodations.

Q: What safety measures will the school put in place to ensure that my child is safe?

A:

  • Daily parent attestations verifying that students are symptom-free
  • Temperature checks upon entry
  • Required mask wearing for students and staff
  • Appropriate PPE safeguards in place in all areas and for all staff
  • Social distancing requirement and “pod” organization of students
  • Mid-day and evening cleaning and disinfecting
  • Installation of improved air-quality filters

Q: When will we consider bringing older students in for in-person instruction?

A: We plan to survey our 2nd-5th grade parents during the week of December 7 - 11. Responses to this survey, along with our ongoing consultation with the Snohomish Health District, will determine our next proposed start date.
