MSD Board of Directors approve two-year MEA contract

The Marysville School District Board of Directors approved the two-year contract between the Marysville Education Association and the District at their regular session board meeting last night, September 4.  The vote was four in favor with Director Edwards abstaining. Prior to the vote MEA President, Randy Davis addressed the Board during public comment and thanked them for allowing the District bargaining team to negotiate in good faith. “Together we reached a fair and equitable agreement. Due to big changes from the state, this was one of the more complex bargains I have experienced. It was also extremely respectful and collaborative” said Davis. Interim Superintendent Jason Thompson echoed Mr. Davis’ comments and thanked him and the members of the MEA bargaining team.

Today marked the first day of school in Marysville. Buses were rolling and students and staff were eager to get the year started. Mr. Thompson and other District leaders visited schools this morning and planned to continue visits throughout the day. “We’re off to a great start,” said Thompson.
