MGHS Friday PGF Schedule Update

Chargers,

As we continue Distance Learning 2.0,  we are listening to those directly involved.  While this new model has created challenges, I am increasingly impressed by the determination of our students, families, and MG staffall of whom are playing a pivotal role in making this work.  The learning curve has been pretty steep and we are monitoring which strategies work, those that don't, and what we can do to improve.  One main concern is the amount of Zoom meetings students and staff are scheduled for throughout the school day.  This is especially true on Fridays when students and staff need to race through seven synchronous (live) Zoom classes.  As a result, we are changing the Friday schedule to better meet the needs of students and staff.

With the exception of Advisory, the Friday schedule will now be asynchronous. **Pre-AP, AP and College in the High School courses will continue to meet via Zoom. Students still need to log in to their Google classrooms for attendance but there will no longer be Synchronous (live) classes for periods 1-6.   Again, the only exceptions for this change are the following: Advisory; Pre-AP, AP Classes, College in the High School, NJROTC & AutoShop (shared with MPHS). These classes will continue to be Synchronous (live).

Teachers will be available during their class period for questions/interventions.

Attendance continues to be an important aspect of Distance Learning 2.0.  Students need to make sure they are completing all attendance tasks for each class each day.

The new Friday scheduleattached here, will begin next Friday,  November 13, 2020.

Sincerely,
