Marysville School Board hears results of public opinion survey

How is Marysville School District doing and what do we need to do to improve? That’s the feedback our district sought in a public opinion poll, which was presented to Marysville School Board members Monday night.

As part of Marysville School District’s plan to engage the community on how we can best ensure our schools meet the needs of our students and larger community, we hired Strategies 360 to conduct public opinion research. The firm conducted a 300-person sample size live-telephone interview poll, representative of our district, to gather data.

The poll shows that Marysville residents value the teachers and staff in the district, but have concerns about the learning environments, such as the conditions of school buildings and class size.

The poll was just the first step in this process to learn more about what Marysville School District needs to do to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our district. We will be conducting 1:1 conversations with staff, parents and community members. We will also be hosting several meetings in the spring, as well as an online survey – one for staff/parents and one for the larger community - to weigh in on the questions we want answered, including:

  • How can we best structure our schools and use our resources to meet student needs?
  • Do our facilities adequately support students in preparing to work in the future economy?
  • Are there other uses of school facilities for the larger community that we should consider?
