Music4Life

Dear MSD Families and Community Members,

Music4Life is a non-profit organization that provides donated musical instruments at no charge to public school districts for use by students-in-need. Not all students are interested in instrumental music, but for those who are and whose families cannot afford to purchase or rent a musical instrument, this becomes a barrier to the full basic education guaranteed by the state constitution. Research shows that students who participate in school-based instrumental music activities do better in math, science, history, literature, international languages, reading and writing, and computer science, in addition, it teaches teamwork and self-discipline.

Please be assured that even during the closure of physical school buildings due to COVD-19, we continue to do all we can to ensure the integrity of the Music4Life effort in the Marysville School District. Eventually, we expect to get through the impacts from COVID-19 and we are certain that the need for musical instruments by our students will be just as important then as it ever has been.

During the time of the stay home - stay healthy orders, you may have found a trumpet, clarinet, violin, flute or another unused musical instrument in your garage, attic, or closet. If so, please consider donating it to Music4Life. The donor form for instruments is available on the Music4Life.org website. The organization also accepts donations for repair of the instruments prior to distributing them to schools.

Sincerely,

Jason Thompson
Superintendent
