This week marks the second week of distance (online) learning. We recognize that what students need from schools during this time will vary and many will need additional supports and accommodations. What schools and families will need during this time will also vary - flexibility and communication are key. School staff will continue to communicate, collaborate, and plan to meet student learning needs and support student well-being. We are absolutely committed to helping our seniors graduate on time. To this end, we will continue to monitor the guidance from the Governor, OSPI and the State Board of Education. Please note: guidance could change, and we will adjust accordingly if it does.
Regarding graduation requirements and graduation plans for high school seniors, our Teaching and Learning staff and high school principals are reviewing information coming from the State and collaborating on the next steps that will be shared with families in the near future. Again, we recognize that we may need to adjust our practices based on what we learn as we continue remote teaching and learning at home. For example, it may be necessary to adjust daily learning targets, use different district digital tools, or respond to new/updated state or federal guidelines.
We also know that, given the challenges and variability in environments, our students may not learn at the same rate as they would have under normal circumstances. We will continue to do our best to address these challenges as we learn together in this new environment.
In the coming days, we will be asking families to complete a short survey to let us know how things are going. The survey link will be emailed directly to families, posted on the district and school websites and shared through social media. The survey will also be available in Spanish.
Take good care, stay safe and healthy. Read more below for helpful information.
